Challenge
Delta Electricity wanted to support the growth of its next generation of leaders by providing access to structured development, senior advocacy, and cross-functional learning. Many emerging leaders felt siloed and unsure how to navigate career growth within a lean organisation. Delta saw sponsorship as a way to challenge limiting mindsets, strengthen networks, and unlock latent leadership potential.
Approach
Delta partnered with Cultivate to run a pilot sponsorship program with five sponsor-sponsee pairs. The program combined reflection tools, structured conversations, and personal Activation Plans, encouraging participants to explore leadership legacy, confidence, and connection. It was designed to elevate emerging talent while fostering deeper internal alignment and leadership visibility
Solution
The experience surfaced blind spots, encouraged advocacy, and helped participants reframe their self-perception. Sponsees were given opportunities to work on visible projects, develop confidence, and build critical networks. Sponsors reported learning more about the business and how to actively elevate others. The initiative laid a cultural foundation for future leadership development efforts
Experience
The program sparked powerful mindset shifts. Participants spoke about overcoming self-limiting beliefs, recognising unconscious bias, and gaining clarity on how to lead with courage. Every participant said they met a great sponsor and intended to stay connected beyond the program; highlighting the lasting impact of trust, advocacy, and visibility.
